The A6220 shaft eccentric vibration monitor is designed for the AMS 6500 mechanical health monitoring system to ensure the high reliability of the most important rotating machinery in the plant. This single-slot monitor works with other AMS 6500 monitors to build a complete API 670 mechanical protection monitoring system. Applications include steam and gas compressors and hydraulic turbomachinery.

The main function of the A6220 shaft eccentricity vibration monitor is to accurately monitor shaft eccentricity and to reliably protect machinery by comparing vibration parameters with set alarm thresholds, triggering alarms and relay actions.

Shaft eccentricity monitoring usually consists of a displacement sensor that can be mounted via the bearing box or internally mounted on the bearing seat, targeting an eccentricity ring close to the thrust bearing. The displacement sensor is a non-contact sensor that measures shaft motion proportional to or in proportion to shaft bending and is suitable for use at speeds below 600 rpm.

For large telescopic bearing machinery, shaft eccentricity monitoring is an important measure for predictive and protective monitoring.

The AMS 6500 Mechanical Health monitoring system is an integral part of PlantWeb® and AMS software. PlantWeb offers integrated mechanical health monitoring in conjunction with Ovation® and DeltaV™ process control systems. AMS software provides maintenance personnel with advanced predictive and performance diagnostic tools that enable them to confidently and accurately identify machine failures early on.
