The DeltaV™ MX controller, a product under the Emerson brand, combines with the DeltaV I/O subsystem to make quick installation easy. The main function of the MX controller is to provide communication and control between field devices and other nodes on the control network. This means that control policies and system configurations created earlier on DeltaV™ systems can be used with this powerful controller.

The MX controller not only has all the features and functions of an MD Plus controller, but also has twice the capacity of an MD Plus controller. The control language executed in the controller is described in detail in the Control Software Suite product data sheet.

The advantages of MX controllers are:

Capacity and performance improvements: It offers twice the control capacity and user-configurable memory, as well as twice the DST count, making it ideal for applications that require more control capacity.

Easy to upgrade: In the later stages of the project, the MQ controller can be easily upgraded to MX to cope with changes in the project scope. The MX controller is installed in the same way as the MQ controller, but with twice the performance. When you do, you simply replace MQ with MX, leaving all existing configurations, documentation, and hardware designs unchanged.

Redundant architecture: MX controllers support 1:1 redundancy to improve availability. Existing MD/MD Plus or MQ controllers can be upgraded online, demonstrating their strong stability.

Modest size and ease of use: The MX controller is designed just right, easy to use, and has the flexibility to meet a variety of needs.

Support for legacy system migration: The MX controller is designed with legacy system migration in mind, making system upgrades and transitions smoother.
