The GE Fanuc IC600LR612 Memory Module is a combined memory module that provides 4K/8K 16-bit words of logic and register memory for a PLC's Central Processing Unit (CPU). It has been designed and manufactured for GE Fanuc PLCs from the Series 6 product family. These PLCs are some of the first modular PLCs ever made. The GE Fanuc IC600LR612 4K/8K Combined Memory Module allows the users to have 4K 6-bit words of Logic (or program) memory available, where the users can store application programs in the form of ladder logic or mnemonic instructions. The 8K 16-bit words of additional memory are the module’s register memory. The internal memory for the operation of the PLC is also stored in this unit, in the form of several sets of data that are grouped in table and scratchpad formats.

The GE Fanuc IC600LR612 4K/8K Combined Memory Module comes from the factory as a non-volatile memory unit, which means that it retains its data even after an accidental or deliberate power interruption. This module is able to do this thanks to its internal lithium-manganese dioxide battery, which has been provided with a dedicated LED indicator, for letting the users know when this battery is about to lose all of its charge and needs to be changed. The other LED indicator on the front of the GE Fanuc IC600LR612 4K/8K Combined Memory Module is the parity LED, and it lets the users know if there is any parity in either the logic, register, or internal memory sections.
