MasterCommunication Module 

The ProTalk® IEC 60870-5-101 MasterCommunication Module is a communication module designed for Quantum-compatible processors to easily interface with the IEC 60870-5-101 slave station (controlled unit) equipment. Typical application areas of the protocol include power distribution, water treatment, highway lighting systems, etc. The IEC 60870-5 protocol was originally developed for the electric utility industry and functions very similar to the DNP 3.0 protocol. Both provide "exception reporting" capabilities and event timestamps.

Characteristics and advantages

Standards-based: Supports IEC 60870-5-101 master specification, including balanced/unbalanced mode, 32 sessions /5 sectors per session, and timestamp function.

Configurable ports: There are two configurable IEC-60870-5-101 master ports, each of which can be individually configured for communication Settings, balanced/unbalanced modes, sessions/sectors, commands, etc.

Easy Configuration and monitoring: The included ProSoft Configuration Builder software allows users to customize module configuration files and view module diagnostics.
