The MVI56E Ethernet Communication module enables Rockwell Automation® ControlLogix® PAC to simulate intelligent electronic devices (IEDs) to communicate with SCADA systems over an IEC 61850 Ethernet network. This means that your non-intelligent electrical substation equipment, such as transformers and switchgear, can present their data to the SCADA system as IEC 61850 IED.

The module comes with an additional instruction that can be used with RSLogix™ 5000/Studio 5000™ to simplify configuration and setup. You can reduce downtime by viewing the unit's remote diagnostics via the controller TAB in the ControlLogix® processor.

ControlLogix® PAC is capable of emulating multiple smart electronic devices on IEC 61850 networks.

Additional instructions provide logical definitions for I/O, module status, and control data, simplifying module configuration and maintenance.

ProSoft Discovery Service (PDS) software is used to initially set the IP address of the module, so you do not need to change the PC to the default subnet of the module.

In terms of interface, the MVI56E-61850S module supports point-to-point mode and can support up to 20 connections at a time with an output power of 32 milliwatts. At the same time, it supports channel data rates of 11, 5.5, 2 or 1 Mbps, which is suitable for communication needs of different rates.

Regarding security, the wireless interface module uses PWP and WEP encryption options with rollover management to ensure the security of data during transmission.
