Motorola's MVME712 is an I/O switching module designed for Motorola's MPU VME module, VME processor module, embedded controller, and single-board computer (SBC) family of processor modules. This module has the following notable features:

Four 25-pin Multi-protocol EIA-232-D serial ports: The MVME712M is equipped with four 25-pin serial ports that support the multi-protocol EIA-232-D communication standard. This allows users to flexibly connect multiple serial devices for efficient data transmission and communication.

Extensive compatibility: The module is compatible with a variety of Motorola VME modules, including MVME147, MVME1600, MVME162, MVME2600, MVME167, MVME2700, MVME177, MVME3600, and MVME4600. This broad compatibility enables users to easily integrate the MVME712M into existing VME bus systems.

The serial port can be configured as EIA-232-D DTE or DCE via a jumper on the MVME 712M. In addition, the MVME712M front panel is equipped with Ethernet ports, SCSI ports and printer ports.

Internal modem connection: The MVME712M also routes the signal from EIA-232-D port 2 to the internal modem, providing more communication options.

P2 adapter board requirements: When the MVME712M is used, the P2 adapter board must be combined with the MVME712M, which is not included in the module. P2 adapter board has the following features:

A SCSI cable connector is provided to allow users to connect other SCSI devices or the MVME712M via a flat ribbon cable.

Equipped with a SCSI termination resistor mounted in the socket for configuration at the end of the cable or in the middle of the cable.

Terminator power is provided by the +5V DC on the P2 connector and is fusing protected (1A) on the P2 adapter board.

Connectors for EIA-232-D ports, printer ports, SCSI and Ethernet signals are provided to interface with the MVME712M.
