Motorola's MVME6100 VME single-board computer is a computer system with advanced design and excellent performance. It uses Tundra Tsi148 VMEbus interface chip to achieve 2eSST VMEbus performance. It is the first single-board computer with such performance.

The computer uses the 2eSST (Double Edge Source Synchronous Transmission) protocol, which enables the VMEbus to achieve a practical bandwidth of 320MB/s in most cases. Although the 2eSST protocol has been around for some time (a pilot draft standard was published in 1999 and as an ANSI standard in 2003), until now 2eSST boards have not been able to work on standard VMEbus backplanes. Because existing VMEbus transceivers cannot support the required VMEbus 2eSST signal speeds. However, Texas Instruments has developed new VMEbus transceivers that support the signal switching speed required by the VMEbus 2eSST protocol.

By combining the new Texas Instruments VMEbus transceiver with Tsi148 VMEbus legacy protocol support, users can integrate the MVME6100 series into their existing infrastructure, providing backward compatibility. This means that users can enjoy the high performance benefits of the 2eSST protocol without changing the existing system architecture.

In terms of core processor, the MVME6100 is equipped with a high-performance MPC7457 PowerPC processor with a dominant frequency of up to 1.267 GHz, while integrating a 128-bit AltiVec coprocessor for parallel processing, further boosting computing power.

In terms of memory, the MVME6100 supports up to 1GB of on-board DDR ECC memory, ensuring data processing stability and efficiency. In addition, it is equipped with two PMC-X sites at 33/66/100 MHz, allowing users to add application-specific modules that meet industry standards, thus extending the system's capabilities.

In terms of interface, MVME6100 provides dual Gigabit Ethernet interface, providing users with high-speed, stable network connection. At the same time, it also comes with 128MB of flash memory, divided into two 64MB flash blocks, giving users plenty of storage space.
