The system is mainly used for vibration and position measurement of fluid film bearing machines, as well as Keyphasor reference and speed measurement. Its standard configuration fully meets the requirements of the American Petroleum Institute (API) 670 standard (4th Edition) for mechanical configuration, linear range, accuracy and temperature stability.

In addition, all components of the 3300 XL 8mm proximity sensor system support full interchangeability, eliminating the need to match or calibrate individual components individually. This includes backward compatibility and interchangeability with 5mm and 8mm sensor system components from other non-XL 3300 series. For example, a 3,3005mm probe can be used instead of an 8mm probe when available mounting space is limited.
