3300 XL Proximity Transducer System
The 3300 XL 25 mm proximity sensor system consists of a separate 25 mm probe, extension cable and 3300 XL 25 mm Proximitor sensor. The system has an output of 0.787 V/mm (20 mV/mil), providing a linear measurement range of 12.7 mm (500 mils). Based on this linear range, the 3300 XL 25 mm proximity sensor system is suitable for measuring differential expansion (DE) in medium to large turbine generators due to the difference in growth rate between the turbine rotor and the machine stator (housing).
Differential expansion (DE) measurement
Differential expansion measurement is achieved by observing the flange or slope of the thrust bearing at a certain distance with two proximity sensors. A typical sensor installation is as follows:
