Communication interface refers to the interface between the central processing unit and the standard communication subsystem. For example, an RS232 interface. The RS232 interface is a serial port, and the 9-core socket at the back of the computer case is usually marked with a "|O|O|".

Generally there are two chassis, the new chassis may only have one. The laptop probably doesn't.
